It all started because…

I have always had a sense of respect and curiosity for entrepreneurs—individuals who, to me, embody a clear sense of purpose. Their goal isn't merely to find a job but to create roles, providing others with the opportunity to work for them. I believed that the entrepreneurial journey was adventurous and exciting, in stark contrast to a routine job. As someone who loves challenges and values creative opportunities, after many years in the IT industry, I decided to embark on my entrepreneurial journey by starting a business focused on making chocolates.

Why chocolates?

To initiate my entrepreneurial journey, I completed a self-employment course in 2017 with the idea of starting a cafe where I would roast and sell my own coffee. For that purpose, in September 2018, I travelled to the US to participate in a specialty coffee event. During my free time in San Francisco, and in what turned out to be a fateful decision, I impulsively signed up for a chocolate bean-to-bar workshop. It was love at first bite and the beginning of my chocolate journey, a bittersweet one!

WHY HERMANA?

I was searching for a word in different languages that means "sister" to remind me of the invaluable and constant support from my little sister, Mana. It is her support that keeps me going in this endeavour. Her name is Mana, and in Spanish, "sister" is translated as "Hermana," which is why I chose the name Hermana Chocolate.
